Organizational Context and Role
The organization receives training on data which extends until the month of October in the year 2023. The organization Plan International functions as a separate development and humanitarian group which works to protect children’s rights and promote equal opportunities for girls. Our organization has dedicated more than 85 years to building a just world through our work on poverty and violence and exclusion and discrimination because we believe every child has the ability to achieve success.
The organization Plan International Ghana is searching for an experienced Project Manager who will create and execute the Digital Skills Project through his innovative skills. The program uses advanced technologies to provide educational opportunities which will help young people overcome the digital gap.
Your duties will include making strategic decisions while you manage every aspect of this vital project. The position requires someone who possesses both technical knowledge of digital education and established skills in project management who wants to use technology for social progress. You will lead teams from different departments while you build business relationships and your project will provide measurable results which help students acquire necessary digital skills for their future needs.
Key Accountabilities
- Project Planning and Strategy: The organization needs a detailed project plan which needs to be executed for the project to meet its organizational goals and donor specifications.
- Team Leadership and Coordination: The project leader needs to establish motivation for the project team members while maintaining project progress through work with external partners.
- Project Execution and Monitoring: The project manager needs to supervise daily project activities while assessing project progress through established monitoring systems which measure project outcomes.
- Stakeholder Communication and Reporting: The project manager acts as the main contact person who will handle all communications with project stakeholders. The project manager needs to create and present detailed narrative and financial documents to donors and Plan International management.
- Budget and Resource Management: The project manager needs to create and oversee the project budget which requires them to distribute resources effectively while maintaining financial transparency.
- Risk Management: The team will identify all potential project risks which they will assess before they create plans to handle those risks.
- Technology Integration and Innovation: The organization needs to implement suitable digital tools and platforms together with new learning methods which include LMS and e-learning solutions for improved educational results.
- Quality Assurance: The project team needs to deliver all project materials which must reach their highest quality levels while following the programmatic standards of Plan International.
- Training and Capacity Building: The capacity-building programs need design and facilitation which will benefit project workers and their partners together with project beneficiaries.
- The project leader needs to finish project shutdown procedures which include gathering project experiences and creating plans to maintain project success after completion.
Technical Expertise, Skills, and Knowledge
Essential Requirements:
- Education requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in Project Management or Information Technology or Digital Innovation or Business Administration or any related discipline. The ideal candidate should hold a Project Management certification which includes PMP and PRINCE2 certification as their primary qualification.
- The candidate needs to have at least 5 years of demonstrated project management expertise which includes work on technology integration and digital innovation and ICT4D and education-related initiatives.
- Technical Skills:
- The individual possesses advanced understanding of educational digital tools and platforms which include Learning Management Systems and e-learning authoring tools.
- The user demonstrates advanced skills to operate project management software which includes Microsoft Project and Asana and Trello.
- The individual shows practical experience in financial oversight which includes budget management and resource distribution for technology projects.
- Soft Skills:
- The candidate possesses strong leadership abilities together with effective communication skills and relationship-building skills which enable them to lead teams from different backgrounds and work with various stakeholders.
- The individual displays exceptional abilities for analyzing data and resolving issues while maintaining effective decision-making abilities during stressful situations.
- The individual demonstrates outstanding organizational capabilities which enable them to track several tasks in a fast-paced setting.
- The strategic thinker focuses on creating measurable benefits for both beneficiaries and the organization.
- The individual possesses the ability to adjust to changing situations while being active in their work and learning in the digital field.
Working Environment and Safeguarding
- Physical Environment: The position requires work in Accra with intermittent travel needed for monitoring field operations and interacting with stakeholders and attending project activities. You will work in a collaborative environment with internal teams, technology partners, and vendors.
- Safeguarding: Plan International protects children and young people through its safeguarding practices. The role requires only minimal contact with children according to assessment. The hiring process requires complete pre-employment verification which includes checking references and conducting Inter-Agency Misconduct Disclosure Scheme screenings.
