The UNDP Global Centre for Technology, Innovation and Sustainable Development in Singapore is seeking a creative, digitally fluent Communications and Engagement Intern to help answer that question. You will join a team at the forefront of reimagining development, which creates engaging international content by turning complex knowledge about AI and agrifood technology and digital public infrastructure into accessible material. The six-month position offers practical experience to develop content strategies and create visual materials while assisting with important events in the active UN setting. Organizational Context: Where Innovation Meets Development
The UNDP Global Centre for Technology, Innovation and Sustainable Development (GC-TISD) operates at the point where innovative technology meets the most critical worldwide development issues. The Centre operates from Singapore as part of UNDP’s Digital, AI and Innovation (DAI) Hub which belongs to the Bureau for Policy and Programme Support (BPPS) under the management of the UNDP Chief Digital Officer.
The Centre which both Singapore and UNDP established as a joint initiative in 2019 harnesses Singapore’s exceptional capabilities for sustainability policy development and technological innovation and public-private partnership execution. The organization creates connections between government agencies and private sector leaders and academic institutions and international experts through its active involvement with a network of stakeholders. We work together to develop and implement effective new solutions which help organizations achieve their Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) more quickly.
The period from 2025 to 2028 marks our most important work period yet because our work reaches its most critical stage. Our team requires a Communications and Engagement Intern who possesses both creative thinking abilities and digital skills and strategic planning capabilities. The position provides active duty work which enables interns to develop the communication methods used by a worldwide development organization to share new ideas. Your work will help build our digital presence through content development and event promotion activities while you collaborate with experts who create new ways for technology to benefit society.
Learning Objectives: What You Will Gain
- The program provides students with practical training to deliver integrated communication services which support the organizational goals of their institution while building relationships with international stakeholders from government agencies, business organizations, and non-profit entities.
- The study investigates how frontier technologies such as artificial intelligence and agricultural food innovations and digital public infrastructure design solutions for sustainable development problems.
- The program teaches students about international cooperation through its United Nations framework while demonstrating how global partnerships create sustainable development solutions for the Sustainable Development Goals.
Duties and Responsibilities: Your Contribution
1. Communications Strategy and Planning Support (30%)
- You will develop and implement the Centre’s communication strategy together with its annual workplan.
- The content calendar needs to be maintained and managed for all digital platforms which include LinkedIn and X and Viva Engage and any new channels that emerge.
- The Centre’s website and social media channels need their key performance metrics to be monitored and analyzed because this process will help generate actionable insights from the data.
- The Centre’s team will work together to design and implement outreach campaigns which will reach both internal and external audiences through various online and offline channels.
- The creation of communication systems together with their implementation needs to be done for every company communication channel which will lead to better control of message delivery.
- The Centre needs your assistance to build and maintain its brand identity through every customer interaction point.
2. Content Creation and Management (30%)
- The programme teams require assistance to develop multiple content formats which include blogs and feature articles and video scripts and infographics and newsletters and white papers and reports and thought leadership articles.
- The designer creates attractive visual content which follows branding guidelines and includes social media graphics and presentation decks and publication layouts according to UNDP brand standards.
- The website team needs my support because I will help manage and edit website content while ensuring user engagement through clear and accurate information.
3. Event Management Support (30%)
- The Centre needs help with planning and executing both internal and external events which include high-level conferences and workshops and webinars. The team needs assistance with developing and distributing all event-related communication materials which include invitations and flyers and programmes and summary reports.
4. Ad-Hoc Support (10%)
- Provide flexible, responsive support to Centre staff on emerging communications needs and special projects.

- The individual has demonstrated their ability to perform desk research and detect trends and present complex information in simple formats. The candidate shows strong skills for event organization and multiple task management and rapid response to changes in priorities which need to be executed in active work settings.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education:
Candidates must meet one of the following criteria at the time of application:
- Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (Bachelor’s level or equivalent); OR
- Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (Master’s degree or equivalent, or higher); OR
- Have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) no longer than one year ago.
Preferred fields of study: Communications, Media Studies, Marketing, International Development, Sustainable Development, Political Science, Public Policy, or a directly related discipline.
Experience and Skills:
- The person showed their ability to create various communication materials through their work which included social media graphics and short videos and blog posts and human interest stories and presentations and brochures.
- The person demonstrates expertise in social media trends and platform algorithms and audience behavior patterns which are currently active.
- The person knows about international media systems and the specific communication problems that public sector organizations and international development groups encounter.
- The person feels comfortable with event coordination while working with multiple stakeholder groups which include government officials and civil society representatives and private sector partners.
Technical Skills:
- Proficient user of the Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint).
- Familiarity with visual communication and data visualisation tools (e.g., Canva, Power BI, Adobe Creative Suite) is a strong advantage.
Language Skills:
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required.
- Working knowledge of another official United Nations language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) is an advantage.

Internship Conditions and Financial Information
- UNDP will provide a monthly stipend of approximately 859.13 SGD in accordance with the UNDP Internship Policy. The intern and their sponsoring institution must bear all expenses related to the internship which include travel and accommodation and insurance and living costs.
- Visa and Residency: UNDP is not in a position to support visa applications or work permit requests. Applicants must be nationals of Singapore OR hold a valid residency permit issued by the Singaporean authorities at the time of application.
- Health Insurance: Interns must provide proof of enrolment in a comprehensive health insurance plan covering the full duration of the internship.
- Status: Interns are not UNDP staff members and they cannot show official representation for the organization. Interns cannot apply for any UNDP position during their internship time period.
- Interns must work full-time although they can receive reasonable schedule adjustments for their educational commitments.
