Save the Children is currently looking for a Communications Manager. The ability to create influence serves as the highest value which drives all transformations in the world. The Centre for Humanitarian Leadership (CHL) requires an Architect of Influence who will serve as a Communications Manager to develop and implement a mission-based strategy which will extend across more than 90 countries. The function of this role extends beyond marketing because it establishes CHL as a leading organization in humanitarian research and development.
You will develop our brand story and manage our brand throughout diverse partnerships while you ensure our educational programs for crisis leaders reach their most important audiences. The organization requires a professional who needs to work in a strategic manner while controlling all operational channels through academic research which he needs to transform into effective communication. The Centre for Humanitarian Leadership (CHL) is an award-winning, visionary partnership between Save the Children Australia and Deakin University. We have developed a unique model which combines academic research with practical humanitarian work since our foundation in 2011. Our mission establishes a new humanitarian leadership model which creates a more equitable and efficient future. We deliver accredited courses and executive education to crisis leaders who operate in more than 90 countries while our program develops social justice through community-driven approaches and local voice empowerment.
Effective communication functions as a strategic change engine which drives organizational transformation during times of complex global crises. Our organization requires a Communications Manager who possesses both dynamic abilities and strategic thinking skills to join our team which operates from Melbourne. The role functions to expand CHL’s reach which establishes global humanitarian leadership dialogues while our research and educational work and advocacy efforts reach key international audience. Your work will define our storytelling through development of marketing campaigns which use digital media to create our brand identity across multiple partnership networks. Your skills will contribute to building up leaders who create change in humanitarian operations through their grassroots work.
Your Impact: Key Responsibilities
As the Communications Manager, you will make a difference by:
- The marketing team creates and executes an integrated communications plan which boosts CHL’s visibility and improves program participation and relationship development with Save the Children and Deakin University and all our international partner institutions. The organization produces and manages top-quality content which includes research reports and policy briefs and articles and promotional materials that transform academic and programmatic knowledge into public-facing materials which have significant impact. The organization uses public relations methods to identify and handle media interaction situations.
- The organization manages all aspects of primary conference planning which includes advertising and operational tasks to create impactful educational events which follow partner protocols. The organization controls all elements of its digital ecosystem by handling development and management tasks for its WordPress website and social media platforms. The organization uses analytics data and content planning methods to increase audience size while creating stronger connections and assessing their results.
- The CHL brand exists as my responsibility to protect because I established brand standards which should be maintained across all communication platforms and materials. The team handles all aspects of communication operations through their management of workflows and budgets and supplier connections and reporting activities.

You are a strategic communicator with a proven track record of building influence and a genuine passion for humanitarian principles. You excel at marrying big-picture strategy with meticulous execution.
Essential Requirements:
- The candidate has extensive experience in creating and implementing successful marketing campaigns through integrated communication strategies.
- The candidate possesses exceptional writing and editing abilities together with storytelling skills which he demonstrates through his portfolio of high-quality content that he created for various audiences and different platforms.
- The candidate possesses advanced capabilities to administer WordPress websites and produce compelling social media content that follows specific platform requirements while focusing on business expansion.
- The candidate demonstrates brand management expertise through his ability to observe all design elements and maintain uniformity across online platforms as well as physical materials.
- The candidate has successfully planned and executed all aspects of multiple complex events which included both conferences and high-profile webinars.
- The candidate possesses excellent organizational skills together with project management abilities which enable him to handle multiple tasks while working with different stakeholders to achieve project deadlines.
- The person demonstrates complete comprehension of humanitarian sector operations together with ongoing sector discussions which match CHL’s principles of social justice and community-based development.
Highly Desirable:
- Proficiency in video editing and design software such as Adobe Creative Suite or Canva.
- Experience working within a university, NGO, or complex partnership environment.
