Organizational Context and Role

The Office of Investment Management (OIM) manages the global investment portfolio of the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF) which includes multiple asset classes and has a total value exceeding $100 billion. OIM uses advanced secure information systems to maintain its investment operations because the organization needs these systems to protect its pension fund assets through secure sustainable operations.

The job exists within the Information Systems Section’s Infrastructure Team which operates from New York City. We need a Senior Information Systems Assistant who possesses both technical expertise and extensive experience to deliver high-level support while guiding our essential technological operations. The Team Lead needs you to handle various responsibilities which include supervising and fixing advanced cloud and on-premises systems (Azure and M365 and Linux) while you complete development work and maintain top security and operational standards. The role plays a crucial role in sustaining the technological system which delivers core technical support for the Fund’s worldwide investment operations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Within delegated authority, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Systems Support & Administration: The team delivers specialized technical assistance for all computer information systems and database systems and software applications. The team executes advanced system repairs for Azure and M365 applications which include SharePoint and Teams and Power Platform and Unix/Linux environments.
  • Application Development & Management: The team handles all aspects of application system development which includes software development and programming and testing and debugging and the deployment of new software versions and features. The team creates system designs through the implementation of multiple programming languages.
  • Installation, Monitoring & Documentation: The team performs system software and hardware installation while using monitoring tools to track application performance and they oversee the process of developing and maintaining detailed technical documentation.
  • Project Leadership & User Support: The team leader manages all project activities which include planning and designing and developing and implementing and maintaining application systems. The team works with users to establish project requirements while delivering continuous user assistance and training.
  • Security & Compliance: The team delivers support for system security measures and data backup procedures and data recovery operations. The team establishes and controls compliance monitoring systems through the deployment of Intune and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) and Microsoft Purview.
  • Innovation & Research: The team tracks current technology trends while researching emerging technologies and conducting benchmarking activities and supporting the rollout of new technological solutions.
  • Supervision & Guidance: The supervisor provides training and support to junior staff members while monitoring their work activities and determining their daily responsibilities.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: The team supports decision-making and knowledge management through their work which includes collecting and analyzing data and creating reports and visual representations of data.

Qualifications and Experience

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Work Experience:

The minimum requirement for this position demands 10 years of experience which should include work in information systems analysis and programming and cloud and application administration and software development and technical writing.

Required Specialized Experience:

The candidate needs to show five years of experience in user management and support within financial institutions.

The candidate needs to demonstrate five years of experience in deploying M365 suite applications which include SharePoint Teams OneDrive and Exchange Online and Power Automate and Power Apps together with three-plus years of experience in Intune Management and DLP and Purview compliance policy implementation.

The candidate needs to demonstrate three years of experience in creating virtual desktop systems that work with internal and BYOD devices.

The candidate needs to have three years of experience in security assessments and Security Operations with Microsoft Defender plus Phishing Simulations.

The candidate needs to show one year of experience in deploying and supporting Microsoft CoPilot.

Desirable Experience:

  • The candidate has experience migrating and managing on-premises services to cloud environments particularly with M365.
  • The candidate has three years of experience working with cloud-based Service Management tools which include ServiceNow and ITIL framework implementation.
  • The candidate has experience using PRINCE2 project management methodology.
  • The candidate has three years of experience working in data analytics and reporting.

Languages

  • English is required (UN Level II – Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking).
  • Knowledge of French is an asset.

Assessment

Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise followed by a competency-based interview.
