About Your Role

The Electric Mobility team at WRI India plays a pivotal role in guiding Indian cities toward a low-carbon future. Our approach combines rigorous research, practical tools, expert advisory services, and collaboration with both Indian and international specialists. Transitioning to electric mobility is a complex process that demands a well-structured strategy, integrating the transportation and energy sectors while redefining the relationship between people and vehicles.

We are seeking a highly motivated intern to support research, analysis, and stakeholder engagement for a project focused on ensuring an equitable and inclusive electric vehicle (EV) transition for India’s automotive manufacturing industry. As part of this initiative, we are partnering with Formula Bharat 2026 as a ‘Sustainable Development Partner,’ facilitating knowledge exchange and capacity-building in the mobility and automotive sectors. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about sustainability, automotive innovation, and policy development. The intern will contribute significantly to WRI India’s mission while playing a key role in the success of our collaboration with Formula Bharat 2026.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Stakeholder Engagement & Research
    • Conduct in-depth research on industry best practices, technological advancements, and regulatory frameworks related to electric mobility.
    • Engage with partners, sponsors, participants, and industry experts to gather insights and foster collaborative relationships.
    • Participate in discussions, workshops, and forums to collect feedback and integrate diverse perspectives into research.
  2. Assessment Framework Development
    • Assist in designing and managing assessment frameworks to evaluate interventions under the Formula Bharat partnership.
    • Contribute to metrics development, data collection, and analysis to measure the effectiveness of sustainability initiatives.
    • Ensure alignment of frameworks with WRI India’s objectives and Formula Bharat 2026’s goals.
  3. Secondary Research & Data Synthesis
    • Conduct comprehensive secondary research on India’s transition from internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles to EVs, with a focus on Maharashtra.
    • Organize, review, and summarize relevant literature, policy documents, and datasets under the guidance of the team.
  4. Knowledge Dissemination & Reporting
    • Synthesize research findings into clear, compelling presentations, reports, and policy briefs.
    • Contribute to grant proposals, working papers, and articles to communicate insights to stakeholders.
    • Present research findings at multi-stakeholder forums on behalf of WRI India.
  5. Event Coordination & Capacity Building
    • Assist in organizing events, workshops, and training sessions to promote knowledge-sharing and skill development.
    • Collaborate with the team to design innovative problem-solving approaches for research and program objectives.
  6. Collaboration with WRI’s Global Network
    • Engage with WRI’s research community in India and globally to exchange ideas and enhance project outcomes.

Skills and Qualifications We Seek

  • Education: Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an engineering program (core disciplines preferred).
  • Experience: Prior participation in at least one season of Formula Bharat is highly desirable. Candidates should possess a blend of technical expertise, organizational skills, and effective communication abilities.
  • Research & Analytical Skills: Proficiency in both quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal English skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the automotive sector, sustainable mobility, electric vehicles, and energy transition trends.
  • Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.

Position Details

  • Location: Remote
  • Stipend: ₹25,000 per month
  • Duration: 6 months
