This position is integral to amplifying FAO Lebanon’s visibility, ensuring compliance with donor communication requirements, and engaging stakeholders through digital media, public outreach, and creative content.


II. Detailed Job Description

A. Reporting Lines & Key Relationships

  • Primary Supervisor: Resilience and Liaison Officer
  • Technical Supervisor: National Communication and Media Specialist
  • Collaboration: Close coordination with FAO’s Office of Communications (OCC) in Rome, Regional Office for Near East and North Africa (RNE), and project teams.

B. Core Responsibilities

1. Strategic Communications & Content Development

  • Implement FAO Lebanon’s Communication and Visibility Plan, ensuring alignment with global FAO branding guidelines.
  • Draft and edit high-quality content:
    • Press releases, media advisories, and speeches (Arabic/English)
    • Success stories, briefing notes, and fact sheets highlighting field impact
    • Web articles for FAO Lebanon’s digital platforms
  • Manage the publication workflow, including clearance processes via FAO’s publishing system.
  • Oversee the production of promotional materials (e.g., brochures, infographics) and liaise with designers/vendors.

2. Digital Media & Social Media Management

  • Develop and execute a social media strategy for FAO Lebanon’s platforms (X/Twitter, Facebook, Instagram).
  • Create engaging multimedia content:
    • Infographics, videos, and photo essays adhering to FAO’s Social Media Branding Guidelines.
    • Localized content to maximize reach among Arabic/English audiences.
  • Monitor analytics (Google Analytics, social media insights) to optimize campaigns.
  • Maintain a content calendar for key campaigns (e.g., World Food Day, International Years).

3. Media Relations & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Update media contact databases and pitch stories to journalists.
  • Coordinate with UN agencies, NGOs, and government partners on joint communications initiatives.
  • Organize press conferences, field visits, and interviews with FAO experts.

4. Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure all materials comply with FAOSTYLE, terminology, and UN map standards.
  • Adhere to donor visibility requirements (e.g., logos, disclaimers).
  • Archive communication assets in FAO’s multimedia library.

III. Required Qualifications & Competencies

A. Minimum Requirements

  • Education: University degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field.
  • Experience:
    • 4+ years in communication roles, preferably with international organizations.
    • Proven track record in social media management and content creation.
  • Languages: Fluency in Arabic and English (written/spoken). Limited French is an asset.
  • Nationality: Lebanese.
