Organization: World Resources Institute India (WRI India)
About WRI India: A Legacy of Impact-Driven Research
World Resources Institute India (WRI India), legally registered as the India Resources Trust, stands as a premier independent research organization with a profound and urgent mission: to foster environmentally sound and socially equitable development across the nation. We provide the objective data, innovative tools, and practical proposals necessary to move human society toward a future where we live in harmony with our planet. Our work ensures that Earth’s environment is protected and can continue to provide for the needs and aspirations of both current and future generations.
By bridging the critical gap between high-level research and on-the-ground implementation, WRI India translates powerful ideas into transformative, actionable solutions. Our efforts are dedicated to a triple objective: protecting the earth’s natural systems, promoting sustainable and equitable livelihoods, and enhancing overall human well-being. Inspired by and affiliated with the World Resources Institute (WRI), a global research leader, WRI India leverages a network of international expertise while maintaining a sharp, localized focus on India’s unique challenges and opportunities. With a dynamic team of over 250 researchers spread across our offices in New Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, we cultivate a culture of rigorous inquiry, collaborative problem-solving, and tangible impact.
Program Overview: The WRI India Ross Center for Sustainable Cities
The internship is anchored within the WRI India Ross Center for Sustainable Cities, the nation’s largest urban-focused think-and-do tank. We are committed to accelerating transformative urban initiatives that have the power to reshape Indian cities into thriving, equitable, and low-carbon ecosystems that are good for both people and the planet.
Our approach is holistic and integrated, focusing on ten key solution areas for urban challenges—from urban mobility and energy efficiency to water management and urban development. Through applied research, the development of cutting-edge analytical tools, hands-on advisory services, and by activating our vast network of global and local experts, we support city governments, communities, and businesses in making informed decisions. Working at the Ross Center offers a unique opportunity to learn and grow alongside a diverse set of change agents—city planners, engineers, economists, and policymakers—who are all dedicated to the common goal of building better urban futures.
