Task Description
As part of this role, you will actively contribute to the design, development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of project activities, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. Your responsibilities will include developing concept notes and proposals to support resource mobilization efforts, as well as preparing publications, briefing documents, and other relevant materials to facilitate project execution. Additionally, you will assist in programme and project administration, including the organization of outreach activities, partnership initiatives, and special events to enhance stakeholder engagement.
A key aspect of this role involves planning and preparing periodic communication outputs to maximize project visibility. This includes drafting and producing public information materials—such as news articles, infographics, and multimedia content—for dissemination across UNESCO’s website, newsletters, and social media channels, in close coordination with the Social Media for Peace (SM4P) team.
Assignment Requirements:
Required Experience:
- Proven work experience in fields related to freedom of expression, mass communication, international human rights, peacebuilding, or international communications, with a strong focus on South Africa.
- Exceptional organizational skills with a meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities, with experience in drafting reports and advocacy materials.
- In-depth knowledge of international human rights frameworks, particularly concerning freedom of expression, access to information, hate speech, and disinformation, especially in the context of social media platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research, analyze data, and produce high-quality reports in a multicultural environment.
- Experience in coordinating multi-stakeholder initiatives, managing projects, and overseeing monitoring and reporting processes.
Languages:
- English (Fluent, required).
