Key Responsibilities and Learning Opportunities

The selected intern will work under the direct supervision of the Communications Coordinator and will be exposed to various aspects of strategic communications in an international development setting. Primary responsibilities include:

  1. Media Monitoring and Analysis
    • Conduct daily monitoring of Brazilian and international media for stories relevant to UNDP’s mandate
    • Prepare comprehensive media briefs and reports for internal distribution
    • Track and analyze media coverage of UNDP initiatives and key development issues
  2. Content Creation and Translation
    • Assist in drafting and editing press releases, articles, blog posts, and social media content
    • Translate communications materials between Portuguese, English, and Spanish
    • Support the development of human-interest stories showcasing UNDP’s impact
  3. Digital Communications Support
    • Contribute to website content updates and maintenance
    • Help implement social media strategies across platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn)
    • Create engaging multimedia content including infographics, social media cards, and short videos
  4. Event Support and Documentation
    • Assist in organizing press conferences, workshops, and public events
    • Provide photographic and video documentation of key activities
    • Prepare event reports and meeting minutes
  5. Research and Knowledge Management
    • Conduct research on communication trends and development topics
    • Support the development of communication toolkits and guidelines
    • Maintain and update media contact databases

Eligibility Criteria

Education Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a graduate program (Master’s or equivalent) in Communications, Journalism, International Relations, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field; OR
  • Currently enrolled in the final year of an undergraduate program (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent); OR
  • Recent graduate (within one year of graduation) from either undergraduate or graduate programs
