Task Description
Under the supervision of the Head of Programme, the UN Volunteer will:
1. Programme Development Support
- Assist in designing and developing Women, Peace and Security (WPS) and Political Participation initiatives aligned with UN Women’s Strategic Notes for Tunisia and Libya.
- Contribute to reviewing ongoing projects, workplans, and knowledge products (e.g., case studies, publications).
- Support drafting donor proposals and reports to secure funding and ensure accountability.
2. Programme Implementation & Technical Assistance
- Ensure programme activities adhere to results-based frameworks and annual work plans.
- Help align budgets with project goals and logical frameworks.
- Identify operational challenges and propose solutions for programme quality control.
3. Monitoring & Reporting
- Assist in tracking progress using standardized indicators and reporting tools.
- Compile data and draft reports on programme outcomes for internal and donor use.
4. Knowledge Management & Advocacy
- Document and share best practices and lessons learned from programme implementation.
- Support communications efforts (e.g., advocacy campaigns, social media content) to amplify WPS and political participation goals.
Key Competencies & Requirements
✔ Education: Bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies, Political Science, International Development, or related field.
✔ Experience: 1–2 years in gender equality, peacebuilding, or political participation (internships accepted).
✔ Languages: Fluency in English; French or Arabic highly desirable.
✔ Skills:
- Analytical and project support capabilities
- Strong writing skills for reports and proposals
- Cross-cultural communication
Eligibility Criteria
1. Age Requirement
- Open to candidates aged 18 to 80 (inclusive), in alignment with UNV’s inclusive volunteerism approach.
2. Professional Experience
- Minimum: 1 month of relevant experience in:
- Gender equality / women’s empowerment
- Peacebuilding, political participation, or human rights
- Programme support, research, or advocacy
- Accepted formats: Internships, volunteer work, or academic projects.
3. Donor Priorities
- Preference for candidates whose experience aligns with key donor focus areas:
- Women, Peace and Security (WPS) initiatives (UNSCR 1325)
- Political participation (elected office, civic engagement, leadership)
- Youth empowerment in conflict prevention/recovery
- Cross-border programming (Tunisia-Libya context)
Eligibility Criteria
Nationality Requirements:
- Must not be a national of Tunisia (country of assignment)
- Exclusive funding criterion: Only Spanish nationals are eligible due to donor (Spain) requirements
- Restriction: Previous UN Volunteer assignments (Specialist/Youth) funded by Spain disqualify applicants
Education:
- Essential: Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Political Science, Law, Development, Public Administration, or related fields
- Asset: Specialization in gender equality, women’s rights, or human rights
Languages:
- Fluent English (required)
- Working knowledge French (required)
Experience:
- No prior experience required
- Preferred: Demonstrated interest in:
- Women’s rights/human rights
- International relations or development work
