In the capacity of an Investment Officer, you will become an important member of a responsive and diverse team and will collaborate directly with the Europe Infrastructure and Equity lead. Your major responsibility will be the expansion and management of IFC’s equity and mezzanine portfolio through the high-impact investments’ identification, evaluating, structuring, and executing. Besides, you will perform a very vital function in portfolio management by promoting the long-term sustainability and development success of our projects.Your area of work will be in IFC’s mandate countries in emerging Europe which are Ukraine, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Albania, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Armenia.Responsibilities and Obligations
Deal Origination & Strategy: Gain an intimate comprehension of the regional infrastructure and energy sectors. Make a network of strong connections with major public and private sector players to reveal and bring equity investment opportunities in line with IFC’s strategic themes.Investment Analysis & Execution: Responsible for the investment opportunity assessment and development impact, with the financial merit as the strongest focus. Carry out the due diligence process at the highest level, create and examine sophisticated financial models, design the transaction terms, and negotiate them in order to finalize equity and mezzanine financings.
Risk Management & Integration: Collaborate with specialized personnel in environment, social, governance (ESG), legal, and technical to evaluate and control risks throughout the project lifecycle, so that investments are up to IFC’s high standards.Portfolio & Client Management: Exemplary client service delivered from sourcing to supervision. Monitoring the performance of the portfolio companies, drafting high-quality reports, identifying risks to and opportunities for performance growth, and interacting with clients to find ways to solve their problems and to support their growth.Team Collaboration & Leadership: Different departments and locations well-coordinated.Participate in sector strategies and mentor junior personnel, thus promoting a culture of excellence and sharing of knowledge.
Selection Criteria
We are looking for a committed and skilled investment specialist, who meets the following criteria:
Education: A Master’s degree or equivalent in Business, Finance, Economics, or any related discipline.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of applicable expertise in equity investment, which has been obtained through employment in a top-tier commercial/investment bank, global financial institution, sovereign wealth fund, infrastructure fund, or private equity firm. A track record of sourcing, structuring, and executing equity transactions with the required experience is a must. Direct experience in the infrastructure and energy sub-sectors is highly desirable.Technological Expertise:
A full understanding of various methods used in financial analysis, equity valuation and complex financial modeling.Ability to manage and assure the quality of financial models made by analysts.
A superior understanding of the factors affecting the industry, market cycles, and the dynamics of business in different regions.
Client & Communication Skills: Exceptional relationship management skills and a client-centered approach. Top-notch written and oral communication skills in English are a must. Knowledge of another language used in emerging Europe is an advantage.
