The IEG Planet (IEGPL) unit assesses WBG’s performance in all environmental and sustainability sectors. Duties and Accountabilities
You will be a crucial leader and a walking encyclopedia for the Manager of IEGPL. Your main duties will be as follows:
Impactful Evaluations Leadership: Be the Task Team Leader (TTL) or co-TTL for the arm of thematic, cluster, and corporate evaluation majorly at WBG programs in the planet sectors like climate finance, nature-based solutions, and sustainable agriculture.
Methodological Rigor Business: Design and implement intricate evaluations powered by advanced mixed methods that include, but are not limited to, econometric analysis, qualitative comparative case studies, and innovative data analytics—to get the correct answers about development outcomes and impact.
Validation & Learning Management: Supervise the validation process of self-evaluations and create Learning Engagements (LEs) that will ensure evaluation findings will be of huge assistance in operations, policy, and strategy.
Mentorship & Quality Control: Mentor, train, and give quality assurance to junior staff members’ work as well as create a professional and excellence culture on the team.
Influence & Dissemination Strategically: Simplifying the very complex evaluation findings to the different audiences—from operational teams to the Board of Directors— and organize outreach activities that will guarantee the recommendations having a great influence and being widely accepted.

Selection Criteria
The perfect candidate should be an individual who has a solid deep knowledge of the industry along with an outstanding ability to assess and lead:
Education: A Master’s or a Doctorate degree in an area that is directly related, for example, environmental economics, climate policy, natural resource management, agriculture, development evaluation, or a similar area.
Experience: More than 8 years of steadily increasing experience and responsibility, with a considerable record in the planet-related sectors (climate, environment, agriculture, water) in operations, research, policy, or evaluation. Direct experience with the World Bank, IFC, or MIGA operations will be considered a great advantage.
Evaluation Expertise: Evidence of once or more-in-a-lifetime experience in planning and running very complex evaluations in a multilateral development scenario; or leading huge analytical/research studies with great experience and command of evaluation principles and methods.
Methodological Mastery: An expert of the quantitative (for instance, econometrics, impact evaluation) and qualitative methods who can demonstrate the use of mixed-method approaches to assess development effectiveness.
Strategic Communication & Diplomacy: Exceptional ability to present and convince others with simple and complex evidence, who thinks through and builds consensus among stakeholders, and is recognized for nurturing relations with the parties involved in the evaluation while being impartial.
Leadership & Development: Ability to supervise and train junior staff, provide experienced advice to senior management, and work in a friendly way across different departments are proven.
Project Management: Organizational skills that are very good and proved by the capability of delivering high-quality, complex projects on time and within budget.
Innovation: A small degree of knowledge about the use of AI tools in research and evaluation will be a plus.
Mobility: An international travel inclusive of travelling to developing countries is a commitment and a capability.
